Methodology

How we collect and publish data

Last reviewed

Birds Evolution publishes pages about bird species, breeders, countries and available birds. This page explains where their data comes from and the rules applied before anything is shown.

Three kinds of data

Every data-driven page says which kind of data it shows and when the figures were last updated.

Breeding reference values

Incubation, fertility check, ringing, fledging and weaning durations come from the Birds Evolution species catalogue, which the application uses to calculate breeding dates. They are averages: real durations vary between individual birds, climate and breeding conditions. They are not veterinary advice.

Community data

Breeders, the species they breed and the birds they declare available come from members who chose to show a public page. Only real, recently active members are counted, and internal or test accounts are excluded.

A breeder is shown with a country, and with a region only when the member chose that precision. No page or map shows an exact address.

The platform Birds Evolution is a technical tool for breeding management and information sharing between breeders. Our platform does not sell animals, does not intervene in transactions, and does not guarantee the legality of proposed transfers. Each member is solely responsible for compliance with applicable laws and regulations in their country, including those related to keeping animals, transfer or exchange of birds, protected species, CITES obligations, administrative declarations and authorizations.

What is never published

  • Email addresses, phone numbers and exact addresses
  • Health, treatment and financial records
  • Members who have not chosen to show a public page

Privacy Policy

Aggregated breeding statistics

Statistics computed from members’ breeding records are not published yet. If they are, they will be anonymized, shown only above a minimum number of breeders, and always with their sample size and method.

Which pages are shown to search engines

A page built from community data is offered to search engines only when it has enough real content:

  • A species page: at least 1 breeder or available bird
  • A country page: at least 3 breeders
  • A page for one species in one country: at least 2 breeders
  • Available birds of one species: at least 3 birds, declared within the last 90 days

Pages below these thresholds stay available to visitors but ask search engines not to index them, and they are left out of the sitemaps. Search results and filtered lists are never indexed.

Updates and corrections

Community figures are refreshed several times a day. Species names, scientific names and reference values change only after review.
